Bigelow Peak - 10,548 ft.

Fri. Jul 24 (4a start)

RT Distance: 35 miles

Elev. Gain: 6,200 ft.

Bigelow Peak is an officially named peak located deep within Northern Yosemite National Park. This peak stands above Jack Main Canyon on the south side of Dorothy Lake Pass. The key to a successful challenge is to go as big as possible on Day 1. From Leavitt Meadows Trailhead, follow Walker River south through Leavitt Meadow. After a long approach climb up and over Dorothy Lake Pass and continue into Yosemite National Park for roughly two more miles on trail. Climb up the gradual northeast slope of Bigelow Peak. Be a good sport and climb Quartzite Peak as well. You're already out there anyways :).

Other Challenge peaks in this area include Ehrnbeck Peak or Acker Peak. Bonus peaks might include Quartzite Peak, Dorothy Lake Pass Peak, Forsyth Peak, among many others.

4am start from Leavitt Meadows Trailhead.
